Question about wheels and tires

I'm getting my RE 3.5 Super flex installed and am shopping for new tires and rims. The question I have.....IS anyone running 33" x 12.5 x 15 tires on 15 x 8" rims? The reason I ask is because most 33" tires need 8.5" wide.

For example, the Interco SSR's require 15 x 8.5" rims or wider. CanI install these on 15 x 8" rims?

The guys at the tire shop say I can but I don't know about that.....I believe my Jeep buddies would know better! What do you say?

I'm running 36x13.5 16's on an 8" wheel. You'll be fine. It will actually pull the tire in and protect the wheel.

You are missing a golden opportunity to get new wheels with those tires. "Well honey, these tires won't fit on my old wheels."

I actually don;t want to get 10" wide wheels.

I'm keeping my 31" duelers for now but I want the jeep to be wider. So I;m getting wheels with 4" backspacing and I can upgrade my tires later.

Perfect, your choice of 15x8 wheels with 4" BS is ideal.

ThanJerry! BTW, I think I'm changing my Big Bear plans for the weekend of the 26th. We're going to end up at Last Chance Canyon instead. PM me if you would like to be there and I'll send over the meeting spot info.

If I can get my tranny seal installed this weekend, I'm going to try and make that run. The new tranny is leaking too badly at the rear seal for that long of a run, I hope I can take care of that this coming weekend as I'm tired of the smell of hot ATF.
