Question on '06 Rubicon

My son wants to get a TJ when he comes back from Iraq and I've found an '06 Rubicon with 27K on it and it looks like it's never been off road. They are asking $18900 and wondering if this is a good price? I might get them down some since we will be paying cash.

umm it is a little high for the market since it dropped out. try this trick since your paying cash. go get 100 dollar bills drop 13k on the table then start counting them ie 1 by 1 stacking them on the table. Stop when you get to your mark of were you want to stop at. I would say 15k if it is at a dealership. I bet they fold around 14ish. My buddy did this for a truck the salesman and the GM were in aww when he dropped a bag of cash on the table and said I will stop when I get to my number hope you like it too. lol

KBB value in you're area for a retail value/excellent condition is coming in around 20k.

So, in the market we are in, and the cash deal you mentioned, you can probably talk them down aways. Let them know you have cash and walk away when they seem to stop negotiating. They'll stop you or call you at home.

Good luck.

If you have the chance to see in person, lok underneth to get an idea if it has been offroad or thru the rocks.... you'll be looking for the normal scraps on teh t-cas skid and gas tank skids, check the lower controls are brackets to see if they occured any damage and then check the front & rear pinions. Dont be afraid to grab the driveshafts & u-joints as well to see if theres any play in them. Most people dont even consider any of those since its at the dealer lot.

I recently did that about amonth ago in the rain, look at a Ram 2500. The dealer thougth I was crazy, since it was raining out & I was crawling around under the truck, but I knew what key things to look for since I knew I would be towing with this.
