Hey all, First post....So I ended up buying my father in laws toy, a 2001 rubicon with 28k miles.. Question is, There is a lot done to it but he dosent remember what he did.. He says he built the axles and gears ect... I can tell it has a long arm kit on it... Is there a way to tell if it has Dana 44s or what on it?

It's a Rubicon. Yes it has Dana 44 front and rear with lockers. Unless he swapped them out and I seriously doubt anyone forgets doing that wallet pain.
Most likely also has limited slip in the rear, in addition to the selectable lockers it has at both ends, a 4:1 transfer case, 4.10:1 final gearing unless he changed that, and disc brakes all around. Probably no ABS. But looks like Rubicon Express grey springs. Who knows what else he might have done?
Depends on what your looking to do with it. Their most likely 4.56 or 4.88. If their the 4.88 that is a nice middle of the road size for a 37, not too much power but will do the trick. If their 4.56s 37 would be under powered
Yeah, id look into some tube fenders. I'm running 35s on a 3.5" lift, and the lower center of gravity feels way more stable, and still allows me to go into full flex without rubbing.
Thank you so much for all the help, This may be a dumb question next but how can I figure out how much of a lift it has to replace the shocks? I can tell it has a long arm kit on it but I have no Idea how much lift this has.
Nice jeep. If I had to guess those look like Rubicon Express links. Also look like a anti rock sway bar up front. Either way, your father in-law dumped some money into her & with only 28k miles you got a hell of a rig. Congrats.
I would take off one of the front shocks and take it to the nearest dealer for that brand. That will help you identify what lift it is, if it's a kit, and what level of lift. If they look like Rubicon Express shocks, just take the Jeep to 4 Wheel Parts, and they will likely help you identify what the kit is. Then you can be sure of getting the right shocks. They will likely want to measure the shocks fully extended and fully compressed to be sure, unless there is a part number stamped or labeled somewhere.
