Questions about this jeep before I make an offer.

2000 Jeep Wrangler SE - VERY LOW MILES

I'm still trying to find a Jeep. Found this one and called the guy. Going to meet him in a couple of days to test drive. It's a little above my price range. I was trying to stay below $5000. It's also a 4, I was looking for the 6 cylinder model. I don't care what year as long as it's 1992 or above.

Are the 4 cylinders really bad compared to the 6. Can you put 33 or 35's on a 4 cylinder jeep?

I was wanting to do a 2-4 inch lift with 33's or 35's.

Seems a bit high to me. I bought a 2003 6 cyl/5spd/50K miles with brand new 31s on it this year for $8000. I'm considering selling my 99/4 cyl/5spd/120K and I'm hoping to get about $4000 for it. I guess it depends on how clean it is. The 4 cylinder is fun for buzzing around town with the top down but it's a bit of a bummer at highway speeds...especially if you encounter a hill or a headwind. I would hold out for a 6 if it were me.

hold out for what you really want. Sounds like you wont like the 4. besides that it is as plain as can be and he wants near 7k.

The engine will limit how well a TJ handles the freeway, but works for offroading just fine.

That engine equals a D35 rear axle which will limit you to 33" tires unless you upgrade some components or risk breaking axles out on the trail.

So, if you want a TJ (98 or newer) get the I6 with a D44 if you want a lift and big tires to offroad it with. Not sure you'll find one like that for less than 5K unless it's pretty thrashed, but good luck.

I know your just itching to buy a jeep. But listen to what your fellow jeepers are saying. Hold out till you find that perfect one you want. You will know when you found it, because you won't need to ask for anybodys approval. You'll just be in delight with it. Good luck hunting. By the way- hunting for it is the majority of the fun. All the things you want and could be done to it are going through your head.

Yeah, I'll just wait. I'm in no rush. I was thinking of waiting until the winter unless a deal pops up.

I'm not set on a TJ. A YJ is fine with me as long as it's the fuel injected model which I think started in 92...right?

I know I'm set on a 6 cylinder 5 speed.....I just need to keep reminding myself that lol.
