Exclamation questions for jeep drivers.

okay so i did that key on and off thing and got some codes on my dash.
11 12 24 42 55

i have read on these codes and i always thought my check engine light was comming on for my o2 sensor. i take it to autozone and they scan and o2 sensor needs to be fixed. but when i run it in my jeep it says the throttle postion sensor. could that really trick the vehicle and possibly bring up different codes for the same problem.

i need some answers cuz my jeep is gettin about 135 miles to the tank .

also i need some info on resolving these other code issues
thanks

btw i have a 1997 tj 2.5 with apx. 176xxxmiles

If i where you i think i would do a big tune up and replace the o2 sensor. Than unhook the battery for a few mins to reset the computer and see if the engine light comes back on. sorry if i wasnt much help.

Our jeep got 9.5 mpg on the trip home with it. I did as the previous poster said with the tune up, plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor. Engine light came on and AZ said o2 sensors. I changed them both (one in the manifold and one behind the cat.) and all our problems cleared up and fuel mileage is much better.

How's it running? I googled jeep codes and found out what they meant. I think 12 is the battery was recently disconnected, 55 means there are no other codes or the end.
If it runs good ignore them.

Well if it's got 173k miles on it a tune-up in general is a good idea, especially if it's been a while. sparks/oil/filters/etc. As for the o2 sensors check them both. Also, if it were a tps problem (which does murder your mileage) you would notice a weak acceleration, maybe some hesitation to accelerate and overcompensation when it catches up (aka bucking).
