Quick MPG question...

How many miles do you guys/gals get on a full tank?

I'm testing mine out and I don't have complete results yet (hasn't hit E), just looking for a forecast.

Thanks in advance...

I sometimes see 200 miles before the fuel light comes on.

I'm averaging 13.5 mpg normally, right now because I let it warm up in the cold, I'm getting around 8.5.

You don't have to wait for "e", if you started with a full tank, refill it and divide the number of miles by the gallons required to put it back on full.

My low fuel light pops on at about 190-200 miles typically. But a 120 mile trip up I55 to St. Louis against the wind knocks my range down a lot. I can get as low as 13mpg or as high as 16.5mpg. Wind and hills rule the milage game for me. I'm pushing 31" MTs with 4.0 auto.

My 2000 TJ is fairly stock; 4.0L with 5 spd, 30 in Toyos. I just filled up today. The light came on as I pulled into the gas station. 245 Miles. I got 16.5 mpg on this tank with almost all city driving in cold Michigan. This tank of gas used the Shell Premium. It seems like I get slightly better mileage with premium, likely because it can run a little more spark before the KS detects detonation. Shell Premium is about as good an injector cleaner as you can buy; definitely worth the little extra money.

I got 33" tires with 4.56 gearing on 6 speed manual.

usually 14.8mpg consistent, but on those cross country treks somewhere in NM or AZ theres one spot where I think ive gotten like 20-22mpg. I dont know where but i got it once going to Missouri and once coming back. Must have something to do with the enchanted land

No worries my man. Just curious. I like to know the difference from my Jeep (Stocked Out 05' X with 31's BFG AT's) and like an 04' Unlimited with a 2in bb on 32's. Curious to know if the tires and the lifts make that big of a difference...

Nothing personal, but I wouldn't buy Shell if Hugo Chavez personally pumped it into my tank.

I have an 06 sport, automatic, all stock and it's a daily driver. I keep a book and track each tank of gas to see my average mpg. typically I average 15-16 mpg with a mix of highway and city driving. When I was commuting farther and doing more highway driving, I was averaging 17-18 mpg. I think that is good as you are going to get unless you are all highway and keeping it at 55mph which I typically am not doing. I have been using Mobil 1 as well to get every little bit I can.
Bottom line, as said by many, its a jeep. you not buying it to get better fuel economy.

Me neither, but I'd consider it if that *^%! washed my windows and put 2 quarts of wiper fluid in my reservoir and then volunteered to kiss my ass!

I tried a trick, after resetting the computer as per the instructions I found on this board, I tried driving like I always did, and driving like I want to save gas, (under 3k on tack) I have found out I get better if I get in it some than if I baby it.

I have heard another person on another forum say that it is better to aggressively step on the gas between changing gears. I oddly found out that I got better gas mileage going 80mph than 60mph on one cross country road trip. im talking 3-5mpg more. But sometimes it didnt work.

I never heard of that, but since mines an auto, its hard to tell when the trans is changing gears everything's so smooth, but it probably doesn't help that my 01's engine is under 6000 miles too.

I meant the problem that people have when they fill up their gas tank and it pukes some right back out.
