Hey Gator, they are probably the transfer case shifter linkage bracket. There is four bolts that holds it on. If you take them off tape the threads up good to keep the herculing off them.
You could remove the bracket but I have heard that it can be a pain to take out.

Hope this helps,
Tim

If you take them off, the bracket underneath will fall/slide a bit. You will have to go underneath and hold it back up while someone screws in the bolts from up top again for you. I did it myself but it's a P.I.T.A. . If you ever raise your jeep you will eventually need to extend that bracket.

The 4 bolts are on the center hump, right?

Never had to remove mine Gator, but you shouldn't break anything by removing the bracket.
May be be a pain to remove and reinstall.

Good Luck

I went over them. Its drying now. It looks really good but I got a lot ahead of me. I broke two of the heads off the rear seat bracket bolts and they are stuck in the holes in the floor
