radio working, speakers not

Ive got a 2003 Wrangler, today as I was driving I noticed a popping sound coming from the speaker, and the check guages light on the dash would come on. The volt meter was going up and down and when it got too high I would get more popping from the speakers and the check guages light would go on again. Eventually the speakers stopped working although the radio itself has all lights and appears to be working fine. I think I fixed the initial cause of all this but I've checked the radio fuse behind the glovebox and the radio fuse under the hood. Both are intact and yet I am still getting no sound from the speakers. Is there a fuse on the amp itself possibly? and where would I locate that? or any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a factory amp hidden in there somewhere? If so I would imagine its fused separate.
