Rampage frameless/ hardware compatibility

I've searched. A lot.
I have the Bestop Sunrider door surrounds/ header assy. (from my Bestop half-top, but that part shouldn't matter).
Will this work with the Rampage frameless top? I'm not interesting in trying to use the Sunrider feature with it, but I have this hardware and I'm thinking it should work. One thing I'm not sure about is I believe the Rampage has some sort of foam pieces that are folded and stuffed in the channels on top of the door surrounds. On the Sunrider, there are the tubular supports that lay in this channel when it isn't flipped up. Not sure if this is an issue.
The other thing is I'm not exactly sure what the actual differences are between different header bars as far as actual fitment of the top.
Anyone have any experience with Sunrider hardware and/ or the Rampage that could enlighten me?

I just put a new Rampage bowless on and was told that the Bestop header would work, but I would make a quick phone call for sure. Yes, the Rampage does use foam pieces above the door surrounds. Good luck....

the rampage header bar is basically the same as a bikini top header, not sure what you have and yes it does use foam stuffed in the top of the surrounds.

I have the header/ door surrounds from the Sunrider. My regule bikini fits it, so I guess the only potential issue is the support rods for the sunrider resting in the channel where the Rampage foamy deals are supposed to tuck in.

I never installed the foam pieces when I put my Rampage Frameless top on. I really don't see what the benefit would be. Have not had any issues yet and I put it on in February. As far as the header goes, you just want to make sure you have one that has a lip outside where the top can slide into like a bikini top. Alot of the bestop headers did not have this as the softop would screw into the header as there is no lip on the outside to slide the top into.

i dont think it would be a big deal if you didnt use them, i think its just to help prevent flapping and keep it from rubbing the surrounds.

I called Rampage and was told that the top was compatible with all headers and door surrounds. He also said that it was designed that you have to use the surrounds no matter the door that you put on.

I still have not put the top on, I am running my old bikini for now, one day I'll not procrastinate anymore and put it on...lol

It's really not that bad. I did mine by myself in a couple hours. The hot sun was a plus that day too. Made it stretchy.

Word to the wise, I watched a youtube video that showed them putting the sides on fully first. DON"T DO THIS! Zip up the back window first before you do the sides. I put mine on when it was still cold and had to wait a few days to see if the top and sides would stretch enough to put the back on which it didn't...

It's not compatible with all. The sides and top front have to be able to slide into a groove to hold it in. The surrounds that came with most bestops are the aluminum framed ones that the sides just velcro around. You actually need suurounds like these:
Bestop 55012-01 - Bestop® Door Surround Kit for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec
Bestop 51238-01 - Bestop Header Windshield Channel for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

Of ocurse I wouldn't pay that much for the surrounds. You can pick them up used and repaint them from Clist or the forum here for alot less money! I picked mine up on here for $75 shipped and repainted them black with some rustoleum plastic fender paint. You can't see in the picture but the header has a channel on the outside front that the top slides into and hold it in place. Some headers that are out there which bestop makes actually have the top screwed in on the inside...

So what is the recommended way to go completely topless with a Rampage top? Would it be to remove the header with the top attached, or just pull the top out of the channel. My concern is getting the top back in that channel when the time comes.

the top will fall out of the header before you could get off or on so i would just eave the header on the jeep and remove the top. i ended up sending my rampage back and got bestop trek top. more i delt with it i could see it being a pain to completely remove and put back on. on top of the issues. FYI if you ever need new foam pieces i have some extras

Yea. I figured that would be the case with that. I thought this top would be easier to go topless.
Thanks for the offer on the foam. I may take you up on it someday. Time will tell.

Do you still have the foam pieces? I just bought this top off someone on eBay and it didn't come with the foam inserts for the door surrounds

The plus side is I got the top, windshield channel and door skins for $450 shipped. Just sad that I didn't get the foam.

Is the foam important? Any help is greatly appreciated! Going to be trying to install this bad boy tomorrow in this wonderful cold Indiana weather.
