rampage frameless questions

Ok as usual been researching threads to find answers.... I'm looking to buy the rampage frameless top for my 98 tj with full steel doors. I know I need to get the windshield channel header..am I going to need door surrounds and a tailgate bar also? Or does the top come with those parts? Or not need them at all? Thanks keepers!

Yep, if you don't have any of the Soft Top Hardware, in order to Install the Rampage Top, you'll need the Rampage Header, OE Door Surrounds (with Hardware), and OE Tailgate Bar (with Hardware).

You don't have to have the rampage header though. I use Bestop no drill header on my frameless top

I'd Use Parts that were Designed to Work Together, rather than Mix & Match Parts.

In Case a Warranty or Fitment Issue comes Up, Neither Place can Pull some BS about a Part Failing or not Fitting Correctly because it was Used with Parts Designed for or Made for Other Products.

I have a Smittybuilt header channel and OE door surrounds. The Rampage top will work with and channel or surrounds, as long as the top is for your year and model.

I love this top but I've heard it's harder to go topless but better if you usually use a safari top I don't have one as I have a yj and they don't make it yet

Im thinking about going to a regular soft top because I like to Jeep totally naked. I don't know though I may change my mind once the weather gets closer to 100 degrees.

Is it really that difficult to take off and put up completely everytime? I have heard mixed reviews

It's not hard, just time consuming, especially if you're like me and have to store the windows in the pouch every time. I'm ocd about some things though.

It's definitely easier with a regular soft top to just fold it down and back up when you need to.

Top off...5 minutes.
Top on...10 minutes. And that's by myself, quicker with help
It's a very easy top to remove and reinstall.

I do not believe that you got the whole top off in 5 minutes. You even have the door surrounds off. It takes 5 minutes just to get the windows in the storage bag!

I can pull mine just about that quick. Remove the windows and lay them on a towel on the bench. Unhook the two safari straps and the two inner liner straps off the rear of the Jeep and pull the corners. Undo the center strap from the windshield and pull it off the door surrounds and windshield channel. It's not that hard to have it done in 5-10 minutes max.

FYI-I put a frameless, (Softopper), on my brother-in-laws YJ and I think it's sweet! That's what I'm going to next on mine.

Yeah me too I think but I wanna be sure it is easy to put back up in case of a freak storm... I like to run topless as often as possible but I do love the look... I would also need to pick up full hard doors first cause their site says the softopper only works with them

Hey y'all ... sorry to jump in, but I had a question about the Rampage top as well:

Right now I have an older Bestop Supertop on my 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, and was wondering if the door surrounds would have to be replaced before installing the top. The same thing goes for the tailgate bar. (And I know I'll need a channel.)

I like the price compared to the Bestop version, but if I have to order the door surrounds, channel and bar, it might would make more sense to just order the Bestop Trektop instead.

I need to order a top this weekend and want to make sure I'm making the best decision. Just curious. Thanks!

Nope, you Re-use your OE Door Surrounds and Tailgate Bar.

That's great news! Thanks so much for the reply, Duramaxxed. I wasn't sure if the parts I had one now would work or not. I love having the ability to store my windows inside the Rampage top ... and the price is a little bit easier on my bank account.
