Re-upholster or get new seats?

I am wondering which is the right path. I have no idea what re-upholstery costs.

My seats as I type is at an upholstery shop geting both front seats done in the same factory material . $225.00 a seat = $450.00 plus tax

The Bestop seat covers are pretty good and a lot less money than that

I have Bestop seat covers and they are great. You can barely tell they are seat covers as they fit so snug. I have never taken them off and I have had my Jeep for over 2 years. Oh yea and they are waterproof.

Somehow knowing that I am sitting on a ripped seat with holes in it bothers me. What about seats from salvage yards? They shouldn't cost more than $225 piece.

I don't care for seat covers myself, so I had all 3 re-upholstered with marine vinyl. They turned out GREAT, two-toned grey. All 3 for $550, looks better than new.

I'm in the same boat here too, bud. Mine are destroyed. I know I need seats, and will get a couple of cheapos from a junkyard. That's the easy part. Im trying to decide if i want to reupholster them when ever they are installed. I figure if I want her to look nice it would be OK. But for a jeep older than I am, i wouldn't mind a few holes in the seats for a while until i could save up for suspension seats.

I had mine done last year. The two front ones were rebuilt with new foam/padding, and all three reupholstered. A little pricey at around $850. but I'm happy with the end result, and the shop did a great job.
