Rear Backing plate replacement

2006 Jeep Wrangler sport

I know how to replace the rear drum brakes and where everything goes but i didnt know how to remove the rear hub. I need to replace the backing plate! how do i take off the hub not the wheel bearing the actual hub i know i have to get into the differential (4x4) but what else do i need to do and what other tools do i need?

I have looked everywhere on the web and nothing shows up on how to do it. I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE!!!! I have searched for a week trying different ways and nothing. My searches come up with cherokees but no wranglers.

probably should get a repair manual like a chilton. i could tell you how to do it, but a chilton manual has exploded views and detailed instructions. best bet

You have to remove the axle shaft to get the backing plate off. If you got a d35 then you have c-clips on the end of the axle holding it in.

Take off the diff cover.
Push the axle shaft inward.
Remove c-clip
Axle shaft should pull out.
Remove and replace backing plate
Reverse steps and refill diff.

gotta pull the cross shaft bolt and cross shaft first otherwise you can't push the axle shaft in
