Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier help!Rugged Ridge Classic Rock Bumper Rear Tire Carrier

Ive been looking into rear bumpers w/ tire carriers for a while since i did my lift.

I found the " Rugged Ridge Classic Rock Bumper Rear Tire Carrier with 2" Receiver " and it is in my price range perfectly!

Normally when buying something of that price i would look for reviews and things but there are none! i can not find any on the internet anywhere!

So i am just wondering if anyone has this combo or know anyone who has one, and if the mounting system looks good, it mounts to the cross members.

Also the instructions say "ON SOME TJ MODELS DROPPING OF THE FUEL TANK –GUARD/ SKIDPLATE WILL EASE INSTALLATION OF BRACKETS. BE SURE TO FOLLOW FACTORY DIRECTIONS FOR DROPPING THE FUEL TANK."

Is dropping the fuel tank hard?

Link is below , any help would be awesome!

Thanks !

Rugged Ridge Classic Rock Bumper Rear Tire Carrier with 2" Receiver in Textured Black for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ - Quadratec

I have one, its a piece of crap tire swing but the bumper part works well. Dropping the fuel tank is a pain in the a$$, if I were to do over I would save up some more money. Also, its not a full width bumper. My dented rear corner could tell you all about that.

Under a grand, I would have searchers4wd custom build a swing out carrier. I did not have to drop my tank for that, but I will tell you the drilling part is what killed me. A set of gear wrenches saved me from dropping the tank, but I had to drop the tank when I put my fuel skid on. I will say I have seen the xrc bumpers and they are a bit nicer with a better swing out. Warn also makes a nice one.

i looked at the smittybulit xrc classic crawler bumper. and looked up reviews and heard those were not the greatest either. i have never really heard people being super happy with any tire carrier to be honest . haha

It does have a better latching mechanism which is my biggest gripe about mine. I bought mine because I was on a budget and kick myself for not spending more. You should have 0 problem with a grand for a budget. Also, I think there is an eBay store for bumperbarn that has fabricated TJ tire swings at a good price.

You will have to drop the tank because you simply can't get to 4 of the bolts. At least I couldn't. I have the Warn rear bumper with tire holder and it is built like a tank. The tank isn't too bad to remove.

The bumper is super heavy...the tank is light as a feather unless it's full of gas. Best to run it very low, then you can usually get by with just loosening the tank straps and pull it down enough to get your hand up in there to start the tough bolts. However, sometimes it's a lot easier to simply pull the tank all the way out.
