Rear recovery placement.

98 wrangler with after market receiver. I ordered a rear recovery factory replacement I can't find where to mount on the frame in the back... Any photos or advise would help.

What is the rear recovery factory replacement you are asking about? You had an aftermarket bolt-on receiver hitch and now want to bolt on the Mopar version? Tow hook?

Yes I called 4west in Colton and the guy sent me hooks for the front and some crazy hook for the REAR but I can't find where to bolt it. It looks like a j.

Post a photo of it, there are two most commonly used styles of tow hooks used in the rear & we need to know what you have because they mount in different locations.

Yes that is it. But I can't find holes to bolt it up.

I can't see the pic in post #6 but if it's the factory hook I'm thinking of, it bolts onto the the bottom of the frame near to where the cross-member meets the main frame member.

As soon as the OP said it looks like a J in post #4 though, that made me think of this style of tow hook which instead bolts onto the side of the frame in the rear like shown below.

Yes, the factory one, bolted to the bottom of the frame rail.

Is that the same hook that is found on the front of the TJ?

Nope. Wait-which one? The hook that Jerry posted above (post #8) will bolt directly on the front, but it isn't the factory front hook. The one I posted a pic of, the rear hook that bolts to the bottom of the frame rail on the LR, won't fit the front.

Yes. And there should be holes in the frame for it. However, most aftermarket receiver hitches utilize the rearmost of the two holes in which the tow hook mounts to.
