Rear Speakers Don't Fit

Hey everyone. I bought some Pyle plg6.3 speakers. They're 6.5 inch and I was planning on putting them in the back of my jeep in the pods on the roll bar. I went to install them today and they're not even close to fitting. Anyone have experience/advice for this? Amazon said they would fit, which is why I bought them. All help is appreciated!

All the speakers Amazon says will fit are 6.5 inch. Won't I keep running into the same problem? I measure the outer diameter of the opening for the speaker at 6.25. How are people fitting 6.5 inch speakers?

Yeah I used a dremel to shave a little larger hole to fit my 6.5" alpines in.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to see if I can make the holes a little bigger and the mounting bracket on the speaker a little smaller. I only need a quarter of an inch, so it shouldn't be too hard, right? lol

The stock rear speaker holes are for 5.25" recessed, flush-mounting speakers. When you upgrade to 6.5" speakers, you surface-mount them, just tuck the rear magnet/voice-coil assembly into the original opening and screw the mounting screws into the plastic.

On the 2003+ sound pods, you don't even need to drill new holes, just angle the new, longer mounting screws into the old Tinnerman clips on the sound pod.

I found a pair of angled tin snips opened the hole up nicely all the way around.

Thanks! I'll give it a try tonight!

Thanks for all the advice everyone. Got the speakers in. They look pretty good. The sound isn't that great, but definitely better than the blown ones that were in there.
