Rear Tire Carrier

What do you guys think of this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=160264015271

Anyone have any experience with them? How does it look to the eye? Look sturdy enough? I don't do any real hardcore wheeling, just the occasional mudpit and of course some milder trail rides.

Let me know what you think because I need to get my full sized spare (33" for right now) on the back of her.

Thanks
-D

It looks to be made with very undersized components, especially the pivot point on the passenger-side. I wouldn't touch it.

X2 on the pivot point. It looks solid but doesn't look beefy compared to the other ones on ebay.

Yeah, I gotta admit also I'm not big on the hinge either. Bumper part would be fine, but I don't think it can handle the weight of the tire and cans full for very long.

any suggestions on another one around the same price range? I really like the OR Fab one that holds the cans and jack but it's so pricey.

Oh and just so you know I have an 01 with a hardtop and the third center brake light. So I have to relocate that damn brake light.

It may be pricey compared to some of the cheap stuff out there but it's well worth the $$$. Mine has been installed for probably 7 years now and it's still as tight, sag-free, and rattle-free as the day I installed it. I have yet to see any other tire carrier I liked nearly as well.

I may be able to do the OR Fab one down the line sometime, but as for now I really just need to get a bumper/tire carrier combo that will allow me to relocate the brake light and allow for the 33x12.5x15 wheel and tire. I want to do it the right way, but it doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles that the OR Fab one does.
