Rear track bar bracket loose

4" suspension lift & have a rear track bar relocation bracket. when i rock the jeep back & forth this bracket rocks back & forth too. I'm guessing this thing should be super tight, but want to check first. It does have slots in it, but seems odd that you would want it to move.

it should not move at all. weld it to the stock bracket, then reinforce. if it rips off the axle you'll be in a world of suck.

Reinforce like so:

That's what I thought. Going to tighten tonight & have my father in law weld it this weekend.

thanks!

It's important the track bar bracket not move. In fact, bracing it as you see above is a very good idea if you wheel hard.

I have my rear track bar braced to the differential housing using a Tri-Counties Gear rear track bar brace. I like the blue, it clashes with everything.

why the hell would this thing be slotted though? I have one like Jerry & both the upper hole & small bottom hole are slotted about 1/2".

The main bolt that holds the track bar bracket in place is the big 1/2" bolt. That's the one that provides 90+% of the strength. The other bolts are just there to help provide a bit more security. Stick an open-end wrench inside the back of the bracket to hold the big nut and tighten the big bolt as much as you can. Tighten the other bolts as much as possible, within reason of course.

Before tightening the bolts, put a few drops of blue Locktite on the threads of all the hardware to prevent it from working loose in the future.
