Rear upper shock mount help

Whats best method. I plan on doing the lower shock shifter this week coming up because I have like 3" down travel availabe on my TJ right now. I have 5100 Bilsteins on 4" Clayton offroad lift so I know its all wrong. My shocks are 15.4 collapsed and 25" full. Whats a good ride height I should shoot for? 5 or more inch of up travel? I plan on doing lowers first then fixing my uppers. PO had broken off upper holes, as well as broke off the weld nuts that were there. So All I had was a big hole for shock eye and two big holes where bolts go. I ended up making a bracket of flat steel to rear both those holes and used big bolts with washers to hold it solid. Then two tabs off of it facing down with holes so I can use just a 5/8"s bolt instead of a bar pin. However all of that greatly sacrificed my shock travel and is probably 1-2" of BULLS***. Whats my best start to making something new for upper mounts if I just have the two holes that are huge where old nuts went and the same sized hole where shock normally goes up in. Hopefully I can get a few inches from lower mounts but also get at least 1" back from uppers and get angles of mount right so shocks won't be binding.

Thanks for help in advance. Pics help a lot!

Forgot to add: Is the AEV NTH degree kit worth it. The upper mounts seem to be the same thing I made sort of and bring shock down much more.

the Nth degree kit is cool, i've got one I've been meaning to install for over a year. After I mocked everything up, I discovered the upper shock mounts are not all I thought they would be. I'll be sticking with the stock upper mounts, maybe modify them slightly, when I use their lower kit or make my own based on mudb8's link I showed you in the other post.

bar-pins aren't bad as long as the bumpstops are set right to keep the shocks from bottoming out. the problem is jeep's weld-nuts in the frame rusting. drill those darn things out and put a regular nut on the other side with a longer bolt. make sure to use anti-seize to keep water out & rust at bay. a BL helps this process greatly.

Yea I have been thinking body lift 1" cause I'm sure I'll be going 35's some day. I think I see what I can build. Just need a regular bar pin for shock upper and I'll find way to nut and bolt it w washers. I just need a bar pin w closed ends not just u shape.
