Question Rear Winch Bumper ?

Who makes them ?

Red Rock Fab is caputz... they used to make some awesome ones. Is there anyone who makes them ?

If you have one of any brand, even home made, post pics ! Let me see 'em ! Particularly if they're modular or incorporates a tire carrier.

I thought about keeping my other winch and mounting it on a hitch cradle... but honestly I don't want the added weight or the trouble/cost of running power to the rear of the jeep for it

Excellent point about the practicality of it ! Could always creatively use a few snatchblocks and chains to pull from behind. Or use the ole mk1 muscles and a come along. But for some reason I've always liked the look of a rear winch recessed into the bumper... :?
Is the trouble/cost of adding a winch to the rear more difficult than adding onboard air back there ?

I've been looking off n on for last few years for a rear winch bumper. Only one I found so far is by Olympic, but it's for a jk.

Running power cables to the rear is no biggie, just make sure the gauge is correct for the length and draw.

Let us know what you find!

I installed a rear winch a couple years ago! one of the handiest mods i have done. It's my ohhhh shit winch. i made a custom bumper for it. power was easy used welding cable and installed a wireless remote. relocated the controller box into the back of the jeep.

I looked at that picture and said out loud "hold sh*t, that's a tj" I love it! What did you do about a roll bar? Just the front cab? Top still removable?

yes it all lifts out and off. bars are modified for removal or reinstall.

This is about rear winches, and they are a very handy option when doing a recovery.

No same shocks, made 0 difference in the ride. I have used it a lot. i find it handy when out on the trail and a strap is short to get the stuck rig behind you. I have used it as a rear anchor while winching a real stuck rig in the mud. have used it to stop my rig from a flop, and the front to pull my self thru.

have used it to put rigs back on there wheels. and used it to pull my ass out of a hole when the mud hit the windshield on the first drop. ( hence ) the name oh-shit winch.

keep it simple! build around your winch of choice. make sure you can relocate the control box. ( can keep departure angle ) winch can be mounted higher so the rear gate just clears, keep in mind your spare tire, so it clears the winch.

frame mounts strong and simple. and a good tip leave open some area's around the winch. makes it nicer for clean up. junk falls thru.
