Recommendations for Transmission cooler.

Gotta 2002 TJ Sahara slightly modified, and would like to put on a transmission cooler and possibly ditch the clutch fan for an electric fan. Was wondering if anybody has done this before, what trans cooler and fan was used and how well it's been working? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

It's real hard to get the air flow with an electric engine fan that you can with the OE belt-driven fan. Not to mention the reason some want to convert to electric fans is that mythical increase in HP. There is no free lunch where turning a fan is concerned, an electric fan places a load on the engine too since the alternator becomes harder to turn with the added load from an electric fan.

Assuming you have an automatic transmission, Derale (which I did an installation review of) and B&M are the leaders in active (with electric fan) transmission coolers. Either would be a good choice. The Derale writeup is at http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/keep...er-110676.html

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate the information. I have spoken to a few different people regarding the clutch fan and came to the same conclusion, It would not be a good idea. As far as the Trani cooler I feel like a total retard because I have a manual transmission and I know dam well there is no cooler I can attach. All of my previous 4x4 have been auto transmissions, and have gotten so used to putting on aftermarket Trani coolers its just been a routine. Having Never been a jeep owner, figured I would see which is the best one to go with. So I apologize for not thinking it through before posting! However If I was to go with a Trani cooler the Derale is a very nice cooler I would just be worried about crunching it having it mounted under the body!
