6 cylinder, 5 speed, 33 inch tires = 4.56 gears.

I6, 3spd, 33" tires = 4.10 gears
I6, 3spd, 35" tires = 4.56 gears

I would go with Superior Axle and Gear brand for your gear sets. Also purchase the master rebuild kit for both axles while you are at it, you'll never know.

I have a 4.0 sport I'm guessing 30&35 axles I know they aren't d44. Trany n tcase are stock not sure on the exact model of tcase but it's the sport edition basically all stock except a 4" lift and 33".

I'm going 4.56's with 33's in my 4.0 5 speed.... by all the charts I have went to.... this is the best for me and the consensus for my application.

Most charts give a 1:1 ratio.... keep that in mind when you search.... 5th gear is OD

Not to jack the thread, just a quick question since it still applies, if you gear for 33's and run 31's would that be just as bad as running 33's on stock gearing?

No, your Jeep's rpm will be a lot higher with the lower gear running 31" tires.

Are you planning any sort of upgrade to the rear dana35 shafts? big tires with even open diff's can cause issues with that axle.

Well if your sure you got a D35 rear and not a D44 before you regear make sure your commited to upgrading that D35 with a Super35 kit cause regearing isn't cheap and should only be done once unless you got a money tree at your disposal..

Super35 kit is an upgrade consisting of larger 30 spline chromoly axle shafts and HD carrier of choice (Arb,Detroit,Ox) to help strengthen the weak links of the stock 35

Ok. So if I want to upgrade my jeep some how to help push those 33" what do you all recommend ? What's the down part to just adding gears to my front n back axles? And lockers to the front?

Nothing wrong with going that dirrection. The down fall is once you commit to dumping money on regearing the D35 your baisically commiting yourself to the super35 kit if you go to 35's.. as 33's open is the stock D35's limit for tire size.. But with that said there is nothing wrong with running a super35 kit so once you get to that point then just throw one in there and be done with it

So does the super35 take place of gearing for the rear? Or the super 35& gears are preferred

What is the final tire size you plan on running? Remember you only should regear once as it's not cheap.. So if your final tire size is gonna be 33's.. Regear for that.. if your final tire size is 35's I'd wait till you get there.. and then with that said what you regear to has to do with what engine and transmision you have
