Regrets-Let's Keep This Going

I know we all have done something on or to our beloved Jeep that just wasn’t right and wished to have done differently or not at all. In my opinion, there are never mistakes made just learning experiences gained. To help everyone from newbe to veteran owner/fabricators, I would like to see or post (for learning and laughing) things we should not have tried, accomplished, or even though of trying.

was in a hurry to get to work/drop kids off at school, pulled into the back yard right up to the door to pick them up (save walking time). got everyone in and situation, backed out..... hit a $@#king telephone pole.
What did I learn, look where you're going stupid!
oh and slow down, in a rush is when stupid mistakes happen.
Damage - Bent the plastic thing that the license plate screws into.... god I love my jeep!

I've posted this somewhere else but I regret attempting to drive through a huge snow mound (2ft-6ft in some spots) without any tow hooks. I drove through it a few times then desided eh what the hell one more time won't hurt and well one last time and I let off the gas a tad and sunk, I was stuck for 2 hours... It was fun but I do regret not having any tow hooks (would have gotten out in a few min if I did). Lesson learned

Buying a cheap Chinese made winch. Replaced it with a made in the USA winch.

The money saved is now money wasted.

Buying pocket flares when I first got the Jeep. They broke and bent my front fender on my first real wheeling trip.

Not doing a proper 4 link to start with. $450 was spent on RK parts, none of which are being used anymore. Research and a good understanding go a long way.

Going wheeling with rock crawlers, had to turn around in a ravene because too many trees were down, went up the hill, came back down, caught my tailpipe on the creek bed, bent it to hell, dented my shock housing. Oh and also climbed up a waterfall on that same trip, slipped the left front off into a hole and the t-case skid landed on a very "sturdy" rock and put a huge dent in it, now i have a banging noise when i go down the road. I feel so bad for my jeep

I regret buying a Supertop. Decent top, but I really wish I had gotten a Trektop NX.

Installing a 2" BB only to rebuy stuff less than 2 years later for a better lift. Buy nice, or buy twice.

Full soft doors. It was a great thought. only put the doors on when I need them, keep them in the trunk area when I dont. Well in Florida it could rain at any moment and stop just as suddenly. Pain to take on and off all the time and they dont really seal up very well to keep the water out.

Also bought a Cargo net for the rear, hated it too. money wasted is never fun.

That's a good one! My biggest mistake was not realizing that the PO wasn't filling the gas tank for a reason it was always on E when I test drove it.... Bad fuel pump found out the day I got it needed to fill it up and kept leaking gas. Pulled the tank thinking it was cracked but ended up being more expensive than the $25 gas tank from the junkyard I picked up.

Never had a jeep, but didn't want a JK so I bought a 06 Rubicon LJ. Smart move with no regrets. However, been doing my own work and has cost me more than I cash with mishaps and frozen bolts.

Not knowing what axles were under my jeep before I bought it. Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear can scare yo to death when wheeling. Went 5 years with a 4" lift and a set of 33's and now 35's, wheeled the heck out of it, went where I shouldn't, and never broke it. But every trip you are scared to death to really try hard.

That and letting my son take it on a 800 mile trip here in Colorado with his High School buddies. Dang I missed my JEEP!!!

My regrets ....... holy s#*t, where do I start....

Taking out my lift and selling it for a third of what I paid for it only to have the same problems I had with the lift.

Selling my 33s.

Selling my black rims only to want them back.

Buying new black rims yesterday from Jegs and not listening to my better half who insisted I buy cragar soft 8s, but I was to stubborn and bought the Jegs Baja 8 knock offs which were crap and are getting sent back in exchange for cragar soft 8s.

Installing a Skycrapper steering stabizer

I got plenty more folks, but you live and learn. After 5 years of trial and error, I finally have a plan.
