Removing door handles

Anybody removed their door handles on the outside of their TJ? I'm wanting to repaint them and I was wondering if it was difficult to take the door apart to get them out. Anybody with experience?

I have done it and it is a pain. You need to remove the glass to get to it. There is a link on here somewhere that shows how to do it.

Well I have soft windows on mine so it shouldn't be as hard as the full doors, but I'll do a search for that thread, thanks.

I have a set of half doors but have not took the handles off yet but I don't think it will be hard at all. You could paint them in place like said earlier but I would remove them to paint them.
