removing krylon from fenders

well my jeep was in a fender bender a while back and was repainted and the body shop replaced the front two fender flares with new ones. the previous owner rattle canned all the flares and looked alright but now with the new flares it looks like chit and I don't want to paint the front ones. I was thinking more of removing the paint on the rear ones and burning the oxidation off of the with a heat gun I did this with the license plate holder and it looks brand new. Dose anyone know how to remove paint from these plastic fender flares.

Paint on those flares will be all but impossiable to get off. The texture of the plastic will hold that paint like no other and if paint like Krylon fusion was used it bonds with the plastic. maybe buy two new flares.

The heat gun trick only works for a few months. The only long term fix is the krylon fusion or new flares

I went and picked up a can of aircraft stripper paint stripper this stuff is nasty don't get it on your skin because it burns I sprayed some on the fender extensions and left it on for ten minutes took the krylon right off I wouldn't leave it on for longer than that though it might start melting the flare. I heated the flare extensions up and they looked great but were shiny compared to the new ones on the front so I went and picked up a can of krylon fusion satin black and prepped and shot the flare extensions they turned out so well that im going to remove the rest of the flares tomorrow and krylon the rest. Im just scared of how well they will hold up against some moderate abuse I just don't want to have to waste alot of time redoing them from scratches and chipping but I guess well see how well the krylon fusion holds up to its name.

I was backing out of the driveway the other morning try to get around the wife's car behind me. My pickup was on my left side. as I made the sharp turn to back around her car I scraped the passenger door of my truck with my left fromt flare. The krylon held but the truck door didn't do so good. Krylon Fusion-1 Truck-0.

What color looks the best the satin is shiny but not too shiny I did notice that krylon makes a ultra flat black I wonder what that would look like. I like the satin so far though I think it looks pretty good. But I would like it to be a little duller than what it is.

I used the satin on mine. I did mine a year ago and last week went around and touched up a few spots from wear. I did have to remove one of the rear ones and repaint the whole thing. (Don't spill gas on it within a few days of painting it) Now they look new again.
