Removing roll bar padding

If I drop the windshield am I able to slide the padding off the roll bar?

Are you wanting to save it? I took mine off with a razor blade.

Thanks for the razor blade idea. I would have never thought of that.

I took them off when I installed my cage. I left the padding in the rear but that will be gone soon.

I don't see an advantage of having them off. I suppose they could offer some cushion if you were to smack your roll bar. It wouldn't be much though.

If its a TJ with a stock rollbar then no, it wont slide off, theres another torx security bolt under the padding that you will have to remove and its just more of a pain in the arse, if you dont have the security Bit.

Yes there are many advantages:
1-2lb lb weight reduction and also now you can unload passengers when they hit their heads since then they become useless.

i guess this is not the same with some jeeps but the covers on the padding on my 04 has zippers to take it off the bar. and the padding just slips right off after that.

Most of mine have zippers also. It's just the two sections right behind the windshield that don't.

If the jeep is black and the rollbar is painted black as well there you go!

Why the hell would there be a security bolt on the roll cage?
