There's some white lettering on my tire all the way around and I can't figure out how to get it off.
I've tried scrubbing with a boar bristle brush using hot water and also with nail polish remover and it doesn't remove even a tiny bit of it.
I would just change the tire and wear it out but it's a different tire than my other four and I'm not sure if that's a good idea. (The spare was different when I bought it)
Well i found some black magic bleche white at the store I'll try tomorrow.
I'd rather not have a tire cover though, I like the way the spare looks by itself on the back.
Plus i know spiders would love to make the cover their home
The blackener will look good while the tire is up on the spare tire holder.
And if you have to put the tire on the ground,
Yes, the blackener will come off;
But, so will the white lettering (once you've put a few miles on that tire).
Problem solved.
My only issue would be that maybe the blackener might possibly dry out the part of the tire where the lettering is. You want the entire tire to stay pliable, but the portion of the tire that has the lettering is where the tire makes contact with the road, so it is important that particular part of the tire remain pliable.
If your spare is the wrong size, then just buy the right size and see if they'll swap your current spare for part of the price. The tire store can then deal with the white letters.
Well its the right size, just a different brand and tread of tire. I dont know if thats a big deal or not for offroading. Its the black magic bleche white a blackener? I thought it was some sort of cleaning product.
That is a brand new tire. I think that is a good sign for a spare. But, if it really bothers you, just get a wide brush and some flat black paint. Or, just rotate the tires, and put a more used one on the spare.
Well, thankfully all the tires were new when i bought them. But the spare has a different tread than the rest of the tires. Is it bad to have only 3 matching tires if i plan on going on the trails soon? There all mudders though.
You are making it harder than it really is, I would go the cheapest and fastest route like some have suggested and rattlecan it black.(plastidip or satin black paint)
I just noticed that there are similar white markings on my spare as well. Never noticed it until now. Dust seems to camouflage it pretty well. When I rotate them, it will disappear quickly.
... I would just change the tire and wear it out but it's a different tire than my other four and I'm not sure if that's a good idea. (The spare was different when I bought it) ...
The spare tire is a different size than the other four.
I was told (here) that, if I needed to use that smaller spare tire, to use it on one of the FRONT tires.
If one of your BACK tires goes flat, then use one of the front tires in place of that back tire that went flat, and put that smaller spare in place of the front tire that you just removed.
