Replace '04 rollcage with '90 rollbar?

I parted company with my old '90 Wrangler last year, but I find I can't live without a Wrangler to drive. I'm looking at an '04 Sport, but I just can't stand the look of the roll cage. I know the cage is safer but, besides making the Wrangler look like a fishbowl on wheels, what else does it do? Am I a lone ranger on this or have other folks modified or replaced the cage to get a more traditional Wrangler look? Any thoughts or suggestions about how this might be done? Thanks!

I agree with you on how the slant back rollbars look better, but the newer cages were built with rear passengers in mind. It offers not only protection in case of a rollover, but also offers shoulder belts for the passengers. If you don't have a rear seat, or you're like me and keep the rear seat in my garage under a blanket, then go for it. If you find yourself taking rear passengers for rides, I'd leave the original cage there. There are other options, if you want, to beef up the stock cage, making it not only stronger, but easier on the eyes as well.
