Replacement Jeep Tailgate

I'm new to the Jeep world, I got my 98 Wrangler SE just two days ago. The tailgate of the jeep is dented in like the previous owner backed into something and never fixed it. So, I was wondering where I could find a replacement tailgate or an alternative tailgate that could be used (kind of like tube doors).

Thanks!!

Check out the For Sale thread here and look at the Part Out section. Also look at ebay and Jeep parts on craigslist. They are out there.

I had the same thing with mine. Tailgate pushed in a little bit and it appeared it was backed into something and the spare tire pushed it in.
The local body shop wanted $700 to fix it.
A new shell was about $250 in the raw.
I found a Jeep salvage yard found an exact color matched one for $350, so I went that route. I bolted it on and done.

Just check a junk/scrap yard. May cost a little to get in the yard, but cheaper than paying a body shop.

I've been thinking about getting one of these since my tailgate has one of it's old hinge bolts permanently rusted to it: Jeep Wrangler New Painted to Match TJ Tailgate Rear Tail Gate Door Hatch | eBay They will even paint it to match your Jeep.

The latches are a pain with the back window in the gate don't seal up unless you tighten up the latches then you can't open them with the window out it seals great and opens great . The cables are attached with nut and bolt witch has to be left loose (I have to come up with something better ) . Not worth the money for what you get . It dose look good lot Of compliments on it more on how I have the spyder light up for a brake light .
