I haven't looked into this much but someone suggested it to me. You could look into some seats off a Polaris Razor. They have that same kind of look and are fairly cheaper from what I've seen so far
I have the corbeau Moab seats in my 06 Sport. They are comfortable and easy to install. I've only had them for about 8 months so I am unsure of their longevity.
I am 6'3" and the moabs give me significantly more support than the stock seats even on 6+ hour drives.
Install was simple and seats fit well. I have 3 point harnesses so I'm not sure about the stock seatbelt.
I'm a big Bestop supporter but not their seats. I had two sets of them in my previous TJ because the first set fell apart inside the bolstering on the sides. They sent me the second set under warranty and they too started doing the same thing. I installed PRP suspension seats in my present TJ several years ago and they're doing great.
Here's my writeup on installing the PRPs. I didn't go for reclining seats but they make them. They're made here in the US too, unlike Smittybilt's cheap junk made in China.
Have you thought about just getting your current seats reupholstered? They can be rebuilt and that would be a good option. That's my plan down the road
I wonder if it would be cost prohibitive to have PRP build a seat with that lever (at the top of the seat, to the side of the headrest) that allows the seat to tilt forward.
I'd recommend keeping the factory seats over wasting $$$ on the Smittybilts. And when he mentioned Corbeaus, that made me believe his sights were set higher than the cheap imported Smittybilts.
I am in the same search for seats for my 2000 TJ. I have the famous Crooked drivers seat completely falling apart and want to just replace them. I will adjust the Seat frame before installing new ones so I no longer drive at a 7 Degree Angle! I am hoping for something weather resistant. Originally was going with Neoprene covers but my seats are too far gone.
Thank you all for your input. By " tight budget" I meant as inexpensive as possible, lasting 2-3 yrs, resembling the oem seats. My parents bought me the Smittys as a surprise present. The install wasn't that hard but the instructions were terrible.
