replacing AC compressor.what else do i need?

i am going to replace my ac compressor soon.i was wondering if there was anything else i needed when doing so.i know everytime you open a system up you should put a drier in(i do HVAC).i'm just not all that familiar with Jeep AC systems. should i get an accumulator? where is the metering device etc? do i need special hose clamps or tools to unhook/hook up the hoses? any advice would be appreciated. thanks,

You'll need 'O' ring seals for the fittings you take off to replace the compressor. A couple of cans of 134 with pressure gauge. I don't know what the 'metering device' you are talking about is. Just wondering what is wrong with your compressor?

the metering device is what meters the refrigerant to the evap coil. i have gauges,vacuum pump and all that. i think i also need some oil.

The 134 cans you buy at a autoparts store have lubricant in them.

Replace the Accumulator & The Orfice tube as well,You will need the tools to releast the Spring Lock Couplers any parts store should have them,If your new compressor dosen't have suficcient oil for the whole system you will need to pick up some "PAG" A/C Oil,If the old compressor failed internally the entire system should be flushed,Pull a Vacuum for at least 30 min,Prior to charging.

This.
The orifice tube is the metering device/ expansion valve

Since you do HVAC, you know you should pull a vacuum on the system prior to recharging it. I'd do the vacuum/nitrogen routine a couple of time on it to make sure it's dry, then charge to specs. Should be good to go then.

thanks miller. i purchased one already. i once improvised something like this for my fuel rail. i cut a piece of 3/8" vinyl tubing and slit it down the middle so i could disconnect the connector to the fuel rail.

yeah lind.i have a fresh tank of nitrogen and i'm gonna do a triple evac on the system. i have to wait a few days for the orifice and accumulator to come in. i may have screwed up. i'm not sure where the orifice is located. the guy asked and out of instinct i said it was the evap orifice. it might be in the hose assembly though. it looks like if i just have the orifice i need an orifice removal tool. ugh. anyone familiar with this? i have a 1997 4.0.
thanks for all the help.if this was a house AC of commercial it would have been done yesterday.
i guess my question is where is the orifice/metering device located? thanks
