In Oct of 2012 I bought a perfect 2006 Rubi from a collector up in Northern MI. It had about 6,700 miles on it and it had earned those while living in North Texas.
Over the next year, I put about 7,000 more miles on it. In August of '13 a delivery truck turned in front of my son on his way home from High School. My son walked away with just a cut on his chin, but the Rubi was pronounced dead at the scene.
I looked it over at the tow yard and believe it or not, it looked pretty good once you got past the obvious carnage. The frame looked great and the damage was all above the shock towers. The motor and trans had not been shoved around and everything looked OK.
The insurance company totaled it and we bought it back in September. After 4 months of surgery, it ventured back out on the roads today for the first time. We swapped the tub, hood, and drivers side fender and door. While it was apart, we did a BL and MML and also added a Novak shifter cable. My daughter loves the Mango Tango color, so we took care of that as well.
Since it was in the shop so long, I had no choice but to go order a new JK Rubi X. A guys got to have something to drive right??
License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.
I'm not sure someone's child's life is something to entrust to the fickle will of a contradictory invisible sky wizard, either; but as you say, to each their own.
You can believe whatever you want and im not about to get in a religious debate on a jeep forum but ive personally witnessed multiple miracles and this is no doubt another one. But seriously have some respect.. A contradictory invisible sky wizard? I mean come on. No need to be a jerk about someones faith. Like you said, to each their own.

I appreciate the nice comments about my son's good fortune, but let's drop the religious discussion. This is a Jeep forum and I know for a fact God loves all Jeeps....even the 1989 YJ's......
