Rigid 50'' Led Light bar Security

I got a little drunk the other day and dropped some cash on a light bar for my windshield. Vodka and Ipad will do that to you. Anyways, i keep hearing stories of people lifting light bars off of jeeps, and i don't want that to happen to me. i have a 1,000 dollar delectable. Any type of security bolts or something i could use to lock it down? Just something nobody usually uses in their toolbox.. I usually dont leave it parked anywhere sketchy.

thanks all

Would be good to know. Mine is held down by two size 13 bolts. Undo those, snip the wires and it's yours.

The make what they call "Security Torx" or "Tamper Resistant Torx" bolts. Basically a Torx bolt with a little nub that sticks up in the middle. You'd need to get a "Security Torx" bit that fits it.

Just figure out what size bolt or machine screw holds the light bar in, then google Security Torx and the size and some options should pop up. That being said, if someone really wants it, you CAN just order the bits off of the internet (probably just pick 'em up at the Home Despot, too). BUT it's not something that EVERYONE has.

Good idea... Possible to make my own nut that only fits my key? like say take 3-4 fender washers.. wield them together on top of each other.. thread the inside, and drill 3 holes in it in a A shape. then make a tool that is in that shape with prongs that go in the holes to tighten it down with?

Rigid offers a security type bolt as well as one other company but im drawing a blank on who right now. Google it or I'll post links later when I'm home. It's different than a security torx bolt.

Cool. 25 dollars is steep for something I could make in 20 min

What if you need to tighten it up later?

Well then i pick out the jb and tighten it up. I only put it in one screw of each side, the top one so that if they get my security nuts off ,it will be hard to undo the mount..the ridge lights aren't cheap so I do what I can to keep them..

Not a bad idea. I could powdercoat the stainless bolts black to match, fill with jb.. Use locktite And if I need to tighten, just cut a slot in the bolt and back it out and replace.. Cheap solution..
