Rim backspacing

I'm sure this has been answered before. I've search but can't find my answer. I currently have 10" rims with 33x12.50x15 tires and I'm rubbing. The jeep is new to me so I'm not sure of the back spacing.

I'm planning on purchasing 8" rims for my current 33" tires. What is the recommended back spacing? I would like the tires to stay under the stock flares.

Thanks!!

3.75" to 4.25" of backspacing is optimal for 12.5" wide tires and a 15x8 wheel is better for that size tire than a 15x10 is if you also offroad.

You will have a hard time keeping the tires completely under the stock flares running 12.5 inch tires. As mentioned, you need 4 to 3.75 inches of back spacing to avoid rubbing things on the frame, etc. but the tires will stick out from the flare.

Thanks for the quick reply's. Sticking out a little is fine, I just don't want 6" of exposed tire.
