Would it be a Jeep crime to Plastidip my Sahara aluminum rims black???? Lol. I really like black rims and don't want to spend a lot of extra $$$$ on new rims. I just bought a 01 Sahara and am trying to customize it a bit!!
Nothing wrong with rattle canning rims black but I would highly recommend you use regular krylon satin black paint versus PD. Plastidip may require less prep and is reversible(very rare do I see guys reverse this), PD will fade and is extremely difficult to clean due to the gritty texture. Getting tires mounted/dismount will tear up PD which is already difficult to touch up. I've done both and will never again use PD on wheels.
I used black tractor paint and it has held up for a year plus a dismount/remount of tires. Look real good too, has a nice glossy finish. It also comes in a rattle can.
Watch for sales at 4W Parts. I have seen their black steel wheels for as low as $39 each.
