Rims! Whar color/type? Help me decide!

So that's my jeep and I've been thinking about getting these steel cragar black rims and the chrome center cap(don't want completely black)

I think I have 15x7 rims now? Can anyone confirm what size the rims are that I have?

The new rims I will probably get in 15x8

So what color should I get? Silver or black? I like black bc you can touch them up easily and brake dust doesn't show and the steel rims are cheap!

Tell me what you think!!!

It's YOUR jeep. Don't go black just because 99.9 % of people on here do. Make it your own

Steel wheel are heavier than alloy and thus suck back your gas milage a bit. Not that that matters, just an observation. Good luck in your choice.

I agree with not paying a bunch of $$ for a rim that is going to take a lot of abuse. Chrome or polished you can find at a pretty decent price but they are high maintenance. It depends on what you what them for, and how much you want to pay

I don't really care for black rims on my color jeep, so I went with the silver to more match the original color. Eventually, I'll probably get aluminum.

Do you have more of a side view of the rims?

I can't decide if I want gloss/powdercoat black or matte black...

I think cragar is gloss and black rock is matte black

When I wash my jeep I put tire black spray(not the really shiny spray) so I'm thinking gloss black might look better?

I hear ya Pock Heebs,

I had the same dilemma when it came to getting my rims. I didn't want to go with the black rims either, but I felt so out of place, it just seemed like the jeep community was all going black rims, even the 4wd store had all their rims in black on the show room floor. Man, I felt like a leper. Haha. Well I sure felt out of place wanting something a little shiny. Don't get me wrong. I would not go the chrome route with any accessories and such, but I did like the rims on my truck and ended up getting the same rim except different hole size. My F250

has the larger holes and my jeep

had the smaller ones. I am really glad I just went with my heart. Rather than go with what everybody else does. In the long run, it is what YOU want. I haven't had anybody give me any crap yet over my rims not being black. Go with your heart man and I am sure you will be happy with it in the long run. Individuality, I heard that before, and I believe it it.

Go black, personally I prefer matt black. Had my MickyT's powder coated and looks way better. Chrome or polished alu is old school and more maintenance but it's your jeep go with your gut. Ps I also like black steel rims

I really think it is a matter of the color of your Jeep, in addition to your personal tastes.

Some colors look great with black accents, others notsomuch.

I think your color would look great with a gunmetal gray or silver. I don't think the black would look as good. The gunmetal or silver would give a great contrast, whereas black would just be, well, black.

I have black rims, so its not about not liking them.

In the end, like others have said...what do YOU like better?

It really is a matter of preference. I mean, yea a lot of people go with black, but I think the black looks great on them. So that's what i'd go with. Also, down here, more lifted vehicles have big flashy chrome rims then rims I'd take off-road, so it'd still be different.

I'm definitely going with steel...i think the cragar soft 8 are powder coated but have a glossy look, I'm not sure

Guys, I'm definitely leaning toward the black cragars...I'd get the chrome center cap and lugs though so it's not completely black

Think the chrome lugs/center cap would look too out of place? (I don't plan on getting anything else chrome on my jeep)

Your Kevlars dont seem right...They are not a directional tire. In the picture of the passenger rear tire, it should be flipped. The single lug (the one you have facing outside) should be facing inward on all four tires. All of the Kevlars I have seen installed, including mine, have been mounted that way.

Not my problem no more

Got rid of them, I traded for a C range duratrac. I do recall some talk on that though. Some said yes and others said no. Some MTR's had the black lettering (like mine) and others did not. I was confused.
I could not deal with how hard they were on the road anyhow. I got lucky with a trade

Ya I have never seen them mounted like that. Were they a higher load range or what? Mine are C range, but also on 15s rather than 16s.

I have also noticed the whitewalls and black walls...it seemed that the majority of the white walls were on smaller tires...I dont think I have seen 35s that were white walls.

245x75x16 I bought the rims used and did not know anything about tires. I just asked
For the new MTR to replace the ones that were with the rims. They were an E rating

I found a guy selling the same size Duratrac with nothing for miles. He could not use them cause his were a C. worked out for both of us.

I'll definitely post pics when I decide...now I'm leaning toward the black rock, same style, in matte black

Can anyone tell me if there's a huge difference between matte black(satin matte black according to black rock description) and gloss black?

I know they are different but do satin matte black rims look really dull or cheaply painted looking?

Man, I dont blame you...E rated on a jeep will ride harder than hell. As long as everyone's happy, thats all that matters.

Hi

Like you, I've been trying to decide on the best shoe's. I ended up taking a set of 15x8 Crager softs, with American Racing polished centre caps and polished lugs. Additionally, I've got chrome bolt in tyre valves. Then put on 31x10.5 tyres........ IT LOOKS GREAT!

Oh, I should add, my jeep is a Sahara Green.

VERY Happy!

PS - will try and post pics shortly.

I tried and tried to deal, It was so bad man. I don't know if it was all the tires but I changed the fluids in my diffs too and already I see a 40 mile difference on my odometer it's amazing

I have the black rock 962's on mine and LOVE the classic look of those wheels, they are also one of the cheapest alloy's that are still pleasing to the eyes. Much lighter than my stock rubi wheels.

Good Lookin rim, I'm torn between the "8" series and the "blade"
