Road recovery stories

On my way home today, I pulled out the third person in a ditch this winter, and the second that wasn't my wife.

A guy in a chevy silverado got the rear wheels of his truck hung up on a ground wire from an electric pole. So he was in a ditch and had anchored himself in pretty effectively. I pulled his truck sideways off the ground wire, then pulled him out of the ditch. He almost got stuck again when I discovered why he went off the road in the first place. He just floored it with the rear end sliding all over the place.

Anyone else had any interesting road recoveries in your Jeep? For me, pulling GM products out of ditches has been the ongoing theme this year.

Well about a month ago we had some snow come down and black Ice formed by 1800. I was driving down a two lane hill and I see this Chevy Cruze in the median with smoke coming up. The smoke was just the dirt as he was just trying to floor it in reverse and get out. I pulled over and saw the black ice and where they lost traction. From all the driving in reverse he dug a hole around the front wheels (the car was FWD) and the car itself was resting on the curb. I back up pull out my recovery strap wrap it around the rear suspension, and attach the other end to my recovery hook. I just put my Jeep in 4Lo (although it wasn't even necessary!) put it in reverse and bam that little car was out! They were a couple of scared teenagers, I told them to be more careful and drive safe! Their faces just lit up after that! I felt like I achieved something! My friends said, "you should've charged them!" I just replied, "Dude it's a Jeep thing, we don't do that!"
