Rock slider/ step question

Im thinking of building a set of rock slider/ step ive noticed most bolt on to the tub why there and not bolt it on the frame?

My guess is clearance and leverage.

I had nerf bars that mounted to the frame. Even though they were pretty stout bars, it is a longer trip to get to the frame underneath. I managed to bend one with a small hit from down under. Luckily, they did not hit the tub and damage it.

Cut them off and went to the body mounted sliders.
2004 TJ. 3" Savvy/Currie, 1.25" BL, Locked on 35's.
