rock sliders

I've got a 2003 tj and need some rock sliders. I need something decent that is inexpensive. Any suggestions? Anyone have old ones they are looking to get rid off? Thanks!

I assume you had to drill holes for those sliders, how was the installation?

I don't have any on mine right now, but the JRC Offroad sliders look pretty solid.

Whatever you do, don't buy the SmittyBilt sliders. I tried them on my last TJ and the "powdercoat" finish flaked right off one of them.

This time around, I went with Rock Hard:

Their overall design is nearly identical to the SmittyBilt ones (which I like), but the finish is much better. I have banged the living daylights out of these things and they're holding up great. I would recommend them to anyone.

Yes I had to drill 7 holes through the tub, and remove the body mount bolts to jack the body up.

Install was pretty straight forward,
Remove body mount bolts and jack up body.
Install the slider and jack it tight to the body and mark the holes, remove slider and set aside.
Drill the holes and reinstall the sliders and bolt them up
Reinstall the body mount bolts and your done.

I have Smittybilt ones. They are well worth the money. Been on a few years no with no issues. I think I paid $190 shipped from Auto Anything. You have to drill the holes, and then mount them under the body lift mounts. It was a fairly easy install.

More info on why I suggest you avoid the SmittyBilt sliders. I ran them on my last TJ. Here is one of the photos I took for its For Sale ad:

Notice how the black finish on the slider is splotchy? See how there are large spots of uneven coloring? (The three largest areas are all the way to the left, then under the door hinge, then under the Jeep logo.) That is where the "powdercoat" finish flaked off, and I painted over the bare steel with some rust preventative stuff. It is in different shades because I had to paint the slider numerous times since the finish continued to flake off over time; the older my paint stuff was, the lighter it became. (Had I kept that Jeep, I would have removed the slider, had it sandblasted and then properly powdercoated.)

That is why I avoided SmittyBilt this time around and instead went with Rock Hard.

FYI
