Rollbar padding question

Replacing the padding on my 01 TJ. Got it all on except over the doors. Is it common practice to cut that piece off? No zipper or Velcro. Looks like you have to disconnect the rollbar, tilt the windshield forward and slide it off? Not gonna happen! I guess I'm wondering why no zipper like all the other pieces? Or am I missing something. It's still in pretty good shape just faded. Was hoping to pass on the "full" set to someone who could use it.

I just cut mine off. I would assume it would be extremely complicated to take it off. I'm just gonna put some grab handles up there

Those peices unbolt.
Each bar has 2 bolts at the windshield end and 2 bolts at the rollbar end. (Torx T40)
