Rollup Soft Top

The guy I bought my 98 TJ from told me that the top rolls back or rolls up (not sure which one he said) so you don't have to remove the whole thing to let light in.Any idea what he means? How do you do it? I unlatched the two latches at the top of the windshield, but I couldn't get the top to move. The Jeep didn't come with an owners manual, so I'm kind of lost.

You need to remove the side windows, roll up the back window, unhook the top from the door surround, unlatch it and pull the top towards the back of the jeep. There is a video "How To" on youtube for it.

I would look at the bars that lead from the middle bar to the header (hooks to the wind shield). If it is a roll back soft top, then there should be a mechanism there to allow it.

Here is the installation and instruction guide from Bestop:

1. Undo all bolts on hardtop
2. Drive foward really fast
3. Let hardtop roll off the back of the jeep.

Jeez that dude is slow. I can put mine back in about a minute. And that's including taking out the side windows and rolling up the back...
