Does anyone has a TJ, 4.0lt, auto, model 2003-2006, with Rough Country 4", without a new SYE?
I am about to buy this suspension and I wan to know if the TC drop is sufficient, if an MML is also needed, or if I will eventually go with the SYE solution.
You know i was looking at the reviews on these guys, not only that but alot of my buddies told me not too go that route, you might reconsider, yes its inexpensive however you get what you pay for. I my self went with zone 4" lift for my 88 yj. very easy and simple instructions and great ride. but there are others you can look at as well. my entire lift was about 750 bucks not bad and i didnt need a sye.
It's funny to shoot down one 'box kit' system when you went with the same quality 'box kit' system thinking there is a difference....
and it's a completely different type of suspension system.

4" Lift, yes you need a SYE Kit... If you want, do a combo lift 2.5" Lift and a 1.25" BL (or a 3" and a 1.25"). 3" you don't need a SYE Kit. Remember, if you go cheap, you get cheap, and cheap things cost you more in the end...
i just installed a 4" rc and yes it is a cheap and shitty ride but you do not need the sye. it would be benificial but not needed. im running without one now
Lot of biased opinions on this particular lift. Ive ran 2 of them now. On my black 01...i ran it with an SYE after i got around to puttin it on, on my current 06 build im not runnin an SYE yet. But will when i get around to buying new uppers, and some other components. The lift itself does not need anything but what you get with it to run it. The new version is better then the one i had on my 01. Ride is fine with the shocks that come with it. If you want later on you can upgrade pieces of it. Adjustable track bars, stainless brake lines, adjustable uppers, lowers, whatever. Its a great platform to start off with. Especially if your jeep sees as much pavement as it does offroad. Im sure Bilsteins would soften the ride up and if your unhappy with it..you can change the springs out at a later time. For the price you cant beat it for durability and ease of install. And it gets you to the height you want to be at without waiting a year, or takin out a second morgage. Ive put alot of different lift kits on jeeps, ranging from trailmaster, to procomp, to skyjacker, to RE for friends...and there is no difference in the short arm kits. I dont care for long arm kits personally, but some of the guys i ride with like em. We do alot of trail riding, mud boggin, and hill climbs but we dont do rocks very much...so im speaking from that experience. Some of the more seasoned rock guys can lead you in that direction if thats what your looking for. Can show ya piks whatever if you need em.
Holds up just fine. I managed to pretzel the upper control arms gettin too much air coming out of a mud hole, but i needed to upgrade them anyhow. Got rid of the black TJ a year ago or so, the guy who has it still driving it to this day with the same set up. My yellow tj has the d44 as well, runnin 36s on it now. Decided to keep it a little lower since i drive it to work when its raining and cant ride my bike. The limitations of each individuals set up is specific to the terrain you intend to bash on. I dont do anything resembling rock crawling....mainly swamps, bogs, trails, and hills. So i can run bigger then guys building for moab and such. Also goin to run 4:56 in this jeep to keep wheel speed up. While most say 4:88s suit them, i need more wheel speed for what i do. Not everyone has a use for the same set-up as the rock racer guys
Seems like the people who always bash rc have never ran one. I beat on mine for over 100k miles with no issues, up graded to their long arm a couple years ago and love it
I just installed the RC X-series 4" lift on my 2001 TJ. I don't know what all the fuss is about. All the joints are adjustable, greasable and re-buildable. It does ride a little rough, but it's certainly not bone jaring or anything. Honestly, it doesn't ride that much rougher than when it was stock. It just seems to me that all everyeone ever really complains about is the shocks. For my needs, RC works just fine and I'm completely satisfied.
As for the SYE, I sprung for it when I did the lift. I contemplated just doing the transfer case drop, but I decided that it would be better and cheaper in the long run just to do it right the first time.

I have a zone 4 inch lift with tcase drop no vibs at all 2003 x had for 4 months now my friend same set up but a 2006 jeep had drive line vibs right of the start and his jeep only has 30000 miles

So I am not going to chance it Im going with the SYE and either new or mod my DL (which is what you'll have to do if you go with the SYE)

I just removed the console around the shifter some cut the console either way thats not a big deal
