Rough Country 6" Long Arm lift

What are your thoughts on this lift.
Jeep TJ Suspension Lift
I want to go for 4 or 6 inches of lift and have about 1700 to spend on the lift

Yeah, that's why I'm spending 1700 on the lift. and then I'm going to try and find some decent used 33"s on craigslist. I was saving for a wedding, but that fell through. So, I have to make it up to my jeep, she felt decieved.

6 inches of lift sitting on 33's? Id say get bigger tires or that would just look funny. just my opinion though.

i'll have to size them. ill ask my buddy if i can put his 35's on and compare the two. main reason for 33's would be to save money when replacement comes, but if i could get a good deal on some decent used 35's id definitely go for it

IMO there are better ways to build an as great suspension system for the money. And plus, what axles are you running? buying things opens up other cans of worms for a Jeep.

big lift= Big tires = New axles, gears = lockers = ??? it goes on forever.

Whats your goal, and the amount of use and what type of use will this jeep see?

I have seen brand new 33's go for about the same as brand new 35's, depending on the brand, tread, etc. As far as used im not sure what kinda prices or price differences you will see.

If you do get the 6'' RC LA kit i would run 35's i agree with Work4Mud i think it will look funny. Also let me know how the lift works for you, I have been thinking about upgrading to that lift.

I put this lift on about 6 months or so ago. Did all the work myself in the garage w floor jacks and jack stands. Very easy to do and directions were well written. I ended up going w 37" tires which required a 1.5" coil spacer. If you're sticking w 33 you should only need the 4" lift. Anyways, I've been very satisfied w the lift thus far. However, I picked up a smoking deal on a set of axles from a 79 f-350 and will be stretching the rear and 4-linking it very soon. So I can't really say if this lift performs well in hardcore off road situations or not since I wasn't able to put it to the test yet.

If you have any questions about the lift just let me know. I installed every bolt myself and am very familiar w it.

I checked it out. It says Rubicon models don't need sye. Whats up with that?

Rubicons have a different transfer case that their cousins so their setup is pretty much ready.

I just ordered the long arm upgrade from JC Whitney for $765. They are on back-order until friday. I am still debating if I want to do the install my self, or have my local Jeep shop do it. I don't really have the tools for it.

I would just like to see how she sits, and maybe a few close ups of the control arm mount.
Did you install the kit your self? I got a quote of $600 to install it. I know I can do it myself, I think the hardest part is cutting the brackets off. Other then that its just mounting the control arms up.

I just replaced my RC 4" lift with a OME hybrid. Better ride and better flex.

I will not put another RC lift on anything.

Did everything myself. Cutting the brackets was a bit of a pain but not too bad. I cut em all off and ground the welds off in just a couple of hours. I used an angle grinder in the easily accessible areas and my dremel w/ cut off wheels in the tight spots behind the frame. I would save the $600 and do it yourself. No doubt about that.

I went to Sears today and looked at their cut off tools. I have a high speed dremel, is that strong enough to cut through the welds? Also how many cutting disc did you go through?

These are the two tools I was looking at today, one for cutting and one for grinding the welds off and smooth. I have a 1/4" air ratchet grinder, but I dont think its strong enough to grind the frame smooth.

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I do it right.

I think the black & decker would be fine for the majority of the cutting & grinding. Not sure about Sears, but Home Depot offers cheap replacement warranties on their power tools. Something in the price range of that black & decker you were looking at would be about $5 for the warranty. That way if you happened to burn it up, you could replace it. Get 1 or 2 cut off wheels and a grinding wheel and you'll be set.

I would limit the use of the dremel to behind the frame in the tight spots. You don't want to be cutting for 3 days!! I did buy the quick connect cut off wheel attachment for the dremel for when i needed it. I believe they were 1.5" wheels & I may have used 3 or 4. Dang sure didn't have to open the extra pack I bought for "just in case".

OH, make sure to get a clear FULL face shield for the cutting & grinding. I picked one up for less than $20. Getting the 4.5" grinder in the right position sometimes means shooting sparks at you or deflecting them off the frame into your face.

Notice how it rakes forward in the front in the last picture? This was due to the coil correction plates that RC sells for the rear coils. The front was sitting 1.5" lower than the rear. I ordered a pair of 1.5" coil spacers for the front and it sits level now. I guess I technically have 7.5" of lift, but I will be removing the plates & spacers once I get the axles in for the stretch.

Awesome and the 37s in the pic look good, I really like the stance.

I have a harbor freight up the street so I can get the 2 tools i showed you, and 50 discs for cutting and grinding for $70. I am going to order the 17/32" drill bit online.
