Rough Country Lift????

I am new to the wrangler world and want to make my 02 TJ have a little better stance. I do not want more than a 3" lift and don't like the look of the tires stickin out more than 2". I am looking at the kits from rough country and like the price but haven't talked to anyone with them. Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!!

from what ive read their not that good. look at zone their pretty nice lifts. you might need to do a TC drop with a 3"

Don't have any experience, but am looking also at the RCs. I have been told the N2 4 inch kit rides well and is pretty common now. This is what I've heard. Good luck.

I have the RC 2.5". shocks are a little stiff, but overall I like it. Had it for about half a year now. aftermarket bumper and winch on the front, zero sag.

I to was lookin at the RC 4" N2 but what i was reading on here is their alright but not that good. the zone 4 has a TC drop and is only $30 more then the RC.

I run a rough country 3.75 combo(2.5 inch suspension and 1.25 inch body). Everything is great except the ride. It's been in some hairy situations and held up beautifully. Do yourself a favor and get some new shocks if you go RC though.

I've got a 4" RC. It's been on my jeep about three years now, and its still holding up. the ride is a little rough but for $500 i can deal with it. I got it while it was on sale for the fourth of july. I think when summer comes around though ill be putting new shocks on cuz the RC's are starting to rust near the top of the shock.

X2 on the rough ride

if your looking to gain looks more then functionality then RC is the way to go, they are cheap and hold up well over time, I got my jeep with a 4 inch lift from RC and its just like the RC lift i put on my old XJ, rides like a truck, new shocks would help it out though, Im getting me some new shocks in the spring.

I installed the 3.75" combo kit. If I had to do it again I wouldn't order a "kit" but would make my own by sourcing higher quality parts. I have since replaced the horrible shocks with OME NitroSport ones and I am much happier

I got the 4" kit. And its really stiff but the jeep stands tall! Just go get some top dollar fox shox and your good!!

I've got the RC 2.5" coils and RC 2.2 shocks and I love it. I have zero complaints with ride quality. I always see fellow jeepers complaining about their ride quality. Remember it's a Jeep, not a Cadillac.

i had their 4 in short arm on my tj for almost 100k miles with zero problems, i upgraded to their long arm kit (still using my old springs) and i really like it, i did buy the softest shocks i could find though, but the n2's were not made then

Thats good to know!! I think I will go with the 4" n2's all I need to do now is save some money...
Also what wheels and tyres are u running with ur lift??

RC lift

I have read a lot of reviews about RC lifts and to be honest i have not found a single bad review. There seems to be a big agreement about the shocks however but ironically the complaint is that the 2.2 shocks are too rough... god forbid your wrangler might have a rough ride. I just ordered the X series 4" kit ($1099.00 Morris 4X4) to replace the old unknown kit in my 99 Tj. I found that my coils had sagged about 2" and my control arm bushings are worn out, i'm also pretty sure my shocks are dead. I tell ya, for the money or not, you will not find any lift out there that comes with all 8 control arms. This kit also comes with sway bar disconnects and break lines. In fact it's easier to list what it does not come with which would be: rear track bar, bump stops, shock boots, or steering stabilizer. I get the feeling that this is what standard lift kits should cost and that all the other manufacturers are robbing us blind. Since my jeep is more of a toy than my primary daily driver, i plan to use the RC shocks and see how they work out. Look at the control arms that come with the Sky Jacker kits, first problem is that they are rigid, non-adjustable arms and the kit only comes with lower arms. For $1800.00+ you'd think more would be included. (standard 4" skyJacker lift kit) They should call themselves "walletJackers"

I'm also looking into the rough country lifts. I want to get about a 3 inch. The only thing I'm worried about is how reliable are the RC's offroad? I do quite a bit of Offroading and I dont want anything with the lift breaking. Any suggestions for the most reliable and decently cheap lifts?

I have the X-Series with bilstein 5100's and it rides great. There are a lot of people out there that get on the RC hate train because of what they read and some just have bad experiences with their old products. Listen to them but take it with a grain of salt. I personally did not want to chunk out 3+ grand for a jeep that is my weekend car so i opted for the RC lift with their new flex joints and 2.0 shocks.

Lets go over the positives
1. Awesome customer service...Jeff gave me the 10% forum discount and shipped very fast.
2. Build quality is very good with their new X Joints. They went together easy and no snags.
3. Everything was very easy to install and no hang ups with the install.
4. Ride quality is fantastic.

Now the bad
1. instructions were horrible...
2. Thats it.

All the links above are problems that seem to be on older lifts by RC...not their new products. I am pretty sure EVERYONE on here will agree that the white body shocks from ANY company will ride like they are filled with cement and the last video comparing a 300$ budget lift and a 3000$ savvy/currie setup lift...really?

I think RC is getting with the program and realizing that quality will sell and crap will sit on the shelf.

Reliable and decently cheap don't usually go together. Figure out which one you're more concerned about and go from there. I started out with a cheap lift (Zone) but got tired of always feeling like the thing was held together with duct tape and worrying about things breaking. I started swapping out bad components with quality ones and haven't looked back since. Checkout Savvy/Currie if you're looking for quality that holds up to abuse.

Not everyone sees the point in spending that much money on their Jeep which is fine, but you can't argue with the quality and durability. For me it just meant peace of mind in the long run.

I have a rc lift 2.5" with 2.2 shocks n stabilizer. I think the ride is pretty good their progressive rate coils act nice. I don't do alot of offloading but what I have done it handled well. Only problem I have had was the rubber bushing in the rear shock broke so I called RC and they sent me a four pack for free.

I'm also looking at a 4'' RC lift. I just got my first Jeep Wrangler about 4 months ago (finally upgradin to a man car from my 528i). I like the price I'm just very concerned about the reviews, but after doin some research I now see that all the aftermarket places around my town use RC- it is the only lift kit the all jeep place uses. I don't do much off-roading seeing how I live in Florida....Would this be a good decision? I also have 22'' KMC XD Hoss tires with 35'' nitto mud grapplers.

If you put 22s on your jeep you will be flamed till the end if time, and you will need new gears, steering, brakes, to run a 35. The heavy oversized rims will probably make it worse

i put a rc 2.5 kit in my jeep last spring, i didnt want to spend a lot as it my dd. after 2 months with no offroading the shocks began to leak fluid. they are the 2.2, not the n2's, i cannot contest to spring sag but i will say that the springs showed up with paint already chipping off.. iv now replaced the rear shocks with bilsein 5100's in the rear soon to do the front. you get what you pay for

I've had a RC 2.5 inch lift (w 2.2 shocks) on my jeep since it first came out, since I purchased a full set of control arms (RC xflex Adj w/Poly bushings) ... The springs are good, other then that I would shop a little harder the only RC product that is still on my jeep and has with standed the test of time are the springs and my jeep has seen very little off roading.

AEV supposedly makes a nice 2.5 inch spring. Saavy also supposedly makes a nice 3 inch spring also. As a TJ owner ultimately you'll want to run 33's under her ... seems to be a TJ's best fit. I would go a little bigger 3" or maybe 3.5 and aim for 33's. Right now I have RC 2.5 springs, .75 spring isolators, OME Shocks, 1.25 Bl, 1 mml. She sits at a nice height with metric 33's.

I like the ride with the spring and shock combo ... Ive only rode her on stock, 2.2, and OME shocks yet to try bilstiens. Im now in the process of removing all things poly bushing....

I have the Zone 3" suspension lift on my 2001 and installed it myself. The ride quality is 10x better than my friends 4" rough country lift he has a 1999 wrangler. Also im running 255/75/r17 that a 32" tire its a tall tire not wide. I have 1.25" wheel spacer adapters cause I have the new rubi wheels and the tires still dont stick out past my flat fender flares

Tese wernt my first coice, but I found them for $400 so i jumped on them. The zone lift kits are pertty comprable to the RC so I will most likely go that rout. I have 35's on the wheels right now but I do plan on replacing them with 33's within te next 6 months. I also am going to need wheel adaptors because the lug pattern is for a TJ and I have the JK unlimited x.... Any suggestions on which co. to go with for those?

Will the 3.25 RC kit work well with 33inch tires or should I got to a 4 inch kit? I am looking at the 3.25 kit and was just curious to what comes with the kit do you have to buy extra parts? And the t case drop how much lower does the case go thanks!
