Such hostility. OP, it's your money, if you like it I'd say go for it.

Thanks for the heads up I didn't know about that one. Looks like a great winch for a lot better deal than most of the Warns are. Still probably would of went with a Smittybilt because even $140 savings would help out my broke college @$$.

Well there you go. Get the M8000, save some money, and let the government send money to China instead of you. And you're buying it from an American store with American employees so now everybody is happy with your new winch.

Just something to consider. I agree that 1000 dollars is alot for a winch that will see some pretty light use. But if Warn is a route someone is looking to go whether it be because of the country it is made in, the warranty, or the name itself...the M8000 is perfectly capable.

the sad thing is your right. Maybe some of that American money will go to Libya for when we try to start rebuilding them before we help ourselves.

Don't get mad because of what an anonymous person on the internet said. Right? He was just making a joke.

It isn't great and only used it once but it is better than nothing where I ride, wouldn't work up hill or anything. It will also be a nice tension winch if needed when I do get a better lift and winch, I'm gonna use it on the rear.

I figure if I make a plate to fit a receiver hitch I can take it on and off. It also comes in handy with moving tractor parts and such, as well as pulling fences.
I'd be careful around that little winch. No telling what will break off that thing and come flying at you when it's pulling 2000# more than it should handle.

To the OP,
I have a Champion winch on my yeep. I know it may not be super dependable but being a broke college student as well i feel you. I've used it 3 times so far and try guy that owned the jeep before me used it to pull drivers Outta snow banks. My first time using it was to pull a dodge dakota out of a little accident he got into when he lost control goof down the side of rail road tracks. The second when i dipped my friend end down pretty good ill attach a picture. Third time to pull my buddies XJ out of a mud "puddle" that his jeep died in lol. That being said i use it as little as possible, i prefer tow straps and wheeling with at least one other person. But the picture i attached i was all alone (minus the 2 females inside) and it got the job done!

It came on my jeep when i bought it so i figure ill use it untill its done... hope this helps get us back on track.

people are people. The winch you are looking at is not bad for the money and like anything including Warn some people hate everything. I am saving for a Warn myself but I got an email yesterday about some rebate thing with Smittybilt so who knows, I haven't decided. I'm in the same boat as you, I want a decent winch at a decent price but will rarely use it.

As for the ATV winch I use it as light duty, like when using to get unstuck, I put on tension then gave it gas, put on more tension, never used to pull actually just for a little forward momentum. I get what you are saying and you are right it's a bad choice but broke is broke and I use my head, I know what it is and don't push it.
