Question Rubber Hood Bumps

Has anyone ever removed these?

From the under the hood,
it looks like they're a tapered piece that's pushed through the top of the hole,
then locks itself in place underneath.
That makes me wonder if they can be removed without breaking or damaging them.
If so, what's the best way to do it so they won't get damaged,
and can be mounted again?

Also:
Does anyone know what size hole is being used for that piece?

I think they can be remounted since the installation instructions for my aftermarket fenders call for removing them and putting them back in the new ones, I'm assuming you could just spray some WD-40 and let it sit?

What?
Why would after market fenders require you to take those off of your hood?

I'm talking about the 2 rubber hood bumps that sit just in front of the windshield wipers on top of the hood.

OH! woops why would you want to take those off? Then you can't put your windshield down

I don't ever put my windshield down.
I'm thinking of mounting something else there,
but don't want to ruin those bumps either.

they can be removed, as a matter of fact you can find instructions on the net if not here for doing so. I found some when I was looking at AEV hoods. someone did a right up and included removal and installations onto the new hood.

YJ hood stops just bolt on

but my earlier post still applys, if you grab the bottom and pull down a little while spraying WD-40 on it you should be able to use the plyers to pinch the nub and push it upwards through the hole in the hood

I might have spoke to soon. Looking at the instructions, and if I'm correct in my understanding, they had some issues. It wasn't as easy as it seemed.

I might give that a try Vaultzz.
It sounds good, but ya never know just how brittle something like that is.
Mine have been on there for 12 years now.
One wrong push or pull could tear it, that's why I'm so hesitant.
I found these OEM's on ebay.
Yep, one solid piece that's just pressed through like I thought.

It looks like the aftermarket replacements are made the way Jeep SHOULD have made them in the first place.

Naw...those things aren't coming outta there without breaking.
At least mine aren't.
Better just let them be.

Go through the automated car wash. I just bought a 2007 Wrangler X earlier this afternoon and immediately took it to the local car wash for a detail job. The Jeep came back to me looking great...except for the rubber hood bumps being gone! I had owned my new ride for all of maybe one hour and I'm already doing my first repair job.

They come off very easy, I just replaced mine a few months ago with bolt on ones. Get under the hood a squeeze the tapered part with one hand and pull up with the other. They are all rubber and should come out with very little convincing.
