Rubi air pumps installed in TJ's

So a forum member here asked me about the rubi axle/air pump install and how I did it. I took a few quick pics about 10 mins ago in the dark so bear with them until I can get better ones up.

The hardest thing I had with the pump install was were to put the switches and the pumps.

Pic of the switches-

Pic of the pump installed-

I wired my switches as follows--

Battery hot- to inline fuse 10amp. From the fuse I made 2 lines coming out to the switches- From the switches it ran to each side of the pump so I could turn them on independently. It is pretty simple. Hard part was finding the best place for everything. For me it is where I put them. Any questions let me know it is really simple.

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.

I want to add that it might be smart to add a relay in there. Will keep a constant power and not spike it but with the fuse being small it is kind of a wash. I do not have a relay in it. I am thinking if I should put one in. hmmm

Whats the PSI rating on the Rubi lockers? I thought it was pretty low compared to what an ARB locker needs.

Oh, and your dash needs a bath.

I thought ARB's a higher pressure? Are you running rubi lockers?

Hmmm I don't recall the Rubi locker made by ARB, I want to say they were made by someone else, but 100% sure on it.

Yea the Rubi air pressure is definately low compared to ARB, 3-5psi

The original choice and I believe still the same ones, is a Air Locker by TFS out of Japan

At about $400 each for the pumps, I'm surprised you mounted them underneath in the mud, water, rocks and bushes - in harms way!
I moved mine from the skidplate to under the hood in front of and under the power brake unit where they are relatively safe.

And, if you want to get trick abut it - the Rubi diffs have an on/off sensor (top of the banjo) that lights the "engaged" light (stock it goes to the ECM, then to the light.) It would be easy to wire in your own "Engaged" light.

The light isn't just for show - when you activate the air, it takes a moment or 2 for the dog ears to line up and engage (sometimes you have to roll forward or back or turn the wheels to get it fully seated. After it seats all the way, the light comes on. If you put a load on it before it's fully engaged, you'll strip the dogs. Don't ask!

Parts for them are expensive!
