You will need a new rear drive shaft.

What about a sye for the 241? Should my 231 bolt right up to the factory unlimited rubi drive shaft?

If the tc came off of a rubi then it will have a flange on the output shaft instead of splines. In which case you will need a rubi style rear ds. A sye is designed to replace the slip yoke style ds on the 231. It typically uses a u joint yoke on the output shaft, the flange style is a different set up. Given you are using an 03-06 transfer case skid then the unit should fit in the space as it is (I believe) larger than a 231. Im also not sure if there will be any problems with the ecu as the 241 uses a different type of speedo sensor set up. But that part you will have to research. In newer auto's the speedo determines the shift points. What kind of transmission are you running?

The case on the 241 is slightly bigger and may run into clearance issues above the T-case. I am not SURE... but from other reads I have found, the tunnel is built differently on tubs that came with the 4:1 cases for clearance. Some have used a body lift and others a hammer to clearance it... how much? I don't know....

Yep, look into the speedo gear, I believe the 241 uses magnet instead of the gear in the tailshaft housing. I'm not sure if it will even cause issues, but I would want to make sure my speedo will work. I could be wrong and have misread that somewhere though.

Just wondering, did you find a wrecked Rubicon and are you going to swap in the lockers too?

Have you tried Google yet? I have seen dozens of write-ups for this. No need to reinvent the wheel.

The case on the 241 is a lot bigger and the tunnels are all the same from 97-06. All they did was lower the belly skid for all models starting in 03.

So you found a wrecked rubicon? I would assume they would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Like hitting the lotto. Was it on Ebay ? How did you find it?

actually it was a guy on base here in hawaii. he needed a last minute hook up for a few months( storage of his jeep so it wouldnt get towed) so i supplied the garage for it and he said i could swap out his axles for mine

I would consider that harder to find than a needle in a haystack.

I would agree. I cant imagine letting someone have my axles and t case if I had a Rubi. I would rather just sell the whole thing. Your a lucky dawg ,and you live in Hawai ,It just never ends for you does it ...LMAO

Wow. That's a ridiculous deal. Your buddy should have just paid a tow yard to store it for him for a few months. He's gonna turn his Rubicon into a TJ clone.
