Hello: I am looking at a 2004 Rubicon with 90K miles for about $14K. Owner has been using it as a daily driver and indicates that it has been well-maintained (3000 mile oil-change intervals, etc). It is a California Jeep, so rust should not be an issue and there is no history of accidents or damage. Is this mileage too high or will this vehicle continue to have a lot of years/miles left? Thank you for your thoughts and opinions.
Just as a point of reference: I bought a 03 Rubicon at the end of August 08 with 7500 miles on it for $15000 out the door. It had 33x12.5 tires on alloy rims and a 4" lift, JKS discos, and an engine skid. Felt like I'd stolen it.
the value of the vehicle really depends on your opinion. I bought a stock 06 2 months ago with a 6-speed, 6-disk changer for $17k with 21k miles. Is it worth spending another $3k to get 70k less miles?? that's up to you...
I was also told by people on jeepforum and maybe here that i shouldnt buy it if i couldnt get him down to 15 or 16 and some said i was getting a hell of a deal.
The Rubi is a plus because of the beefy drive train only if you plan on going offroad. The 90,000 is a tiny bit high. I have seen Rubi's that are well taken care of go 200,000 to 250,000 wiht little more than nornal things (power steering pump, water pump, ball joints, alt. these thing were out with miles and age. If the payment will interfer with the higher maint. than a newer vehicle might be the way to go. Or an older one w/o a payment book.
