Running without key

Ok when i start the Jeep I can pull out the key out of the igintion switch and it will still run and drive. It will also do this when its in the AUX position. Normal or should I get it replaced? Will anything happen if I dont ever replace it or get it fixed....

I have had a few trucks that did that, never changed them! It's really up to you if you want to change it out! My key fits my door too so I would just leave it alone if it were me!

My jeep did it when I first bought it. You have to make sure you remove it in the off position when you turn the jeep off. It's the ignition switch and resets the computer each time you turn it on and off. Also if you remove it when it's still in the auxilliary position it will drain your battery. If your turn signals, dash lights, or radio start doing strange things you need to replace it. I had to replace mine.

Ignition key switch sounds worn. Same here, a few trucks of mine did it. No big deal. Unless it affects something else, I wouldn't sweat it.

Exactly... it's NOT a good trick to show your "buddies" or family.

By the way, the switches usually get jacked because of too much weight on the keychain, especially offroad. At first I ditched a couple of my bottle openers, now I use a dedicated key just for the jeep...

Totally normal... mine does it too... if I dont put the ignition in the lock position, I can start it and drive it away all without using any keys what so ever! LOL! very funny, I found this out because I left my keys up stairs one day, didnt want to run back up there, got frustrated and just turned the ignition and "vroom" right up!

Do not remove it while driving. My green fiero has this same problem. i though i was cool running without as key in the ignition and low and behold my steering wheel locks up on me at 60MPH. wasent fun but no harm done.
