Sad to say goodbye, looking onward

Long story short, my beloved 2000 TJ that I saved for two years to buy was killed by some d-bag who decided to run a stop sign. The damage ranged from upper control arms, tie rods, hood, grill, radiator, fenders, basically an entire front end replacement. Insurance considered it a total loss because the cost to repair would be worth more than the vehicle itself.

I agree. I have never had to do this, thankfully, so I am not speaking from experience - but supposedly you can buy your wreck from the insurance after they pay you off. Then you can park it and do the work yourself over time. Or you can part it out. If you save the money from the sales rather than spend it as it comes in you can make a good deal of money to get your next jeep.

If the frame is not screwed up and it still runs I would rebuild it like the Six Million Dollar Man, too. (Nice clip, Vroooom!)

Good luck, whatever happens. I am sorry that your baby was smacked like that. Glad that you are not reporting any injuries.

[EDIT: I think you would have to get a salvage title if it is totaled, however. That will make it hard to sell. But if you do not intend to sell her - hmm... ]

Well, that looks like a badly bent frame. Maybe the part out idea would still work. If not, time to move on, as you said...

Very tough to see that. Sorry for your troubles. :-(

The frame is most defiantly bent as well as the upper control arms and the diff. I love the six million dollar man idea, I wish that was the case but unlike the Six million dollar man and robo cop I don't think she's making it out this time.

Yes sorry I didn't mention I didn't suffer any major injuries. Tip: keep the roll bar padding it saved me from a concussion. Besides lower back pain and a stiff neck I check out ok

sometimes reality bites and no matter how much you want to hold on...you gotta move on.

IF that is the case here....then transplant your floor mats to your new rig and that way a bit will carry forward.

I know...sounds cheesy....but.....

I've already taken them out. There's nothing cheesy when it comes to owning a jeep. Its a passion (jeep thing) that many don't understand.

I'm looking at an 06 with a 6 speed depending on what insurance gives.

I feel your pain. My p/u truck I've owned for 17 years was hit while parked 2 weeks ago. It was a total loss. I should be getting a check this coming week from the guy's insurance. I will miss my old truck.

Move on man. It always seems like the jeep is irreplaceable at first but after all it is a mass produced machine. One door closed and another open...
